I'm not sure if anyone who is in university can relate to this but most of my friends are now working after graduating this year. I on the other hand chose to go straight into my Master. They often make comments on "how lucky I am that I only have to go to lecture 3 times a week" or "you can't be tired all you did today was attend one lecture". I don't think these comments are meant to come off as rude or condescending but they do get annoying.
What they don't take into account is the for most of my lectures I have to make notes from PP that have 75 slides, the required reading that sometimes has 40 pages or seminar work that can take 2 hours to do and on top of that assignment that can be 3,000 words long. Now if we multiply that by the 4 modules that I am taking this semester it slowly adds up. I think sometimes we forget how much work actually goes into studying and that in reality, it is a 24/7 commitment.
So in this Christmas period keep your university friends in your thoughts xxx
Ugh 100%. Hated whenever my parents would say that university was easy because I only had 8 hours of lectures per week but it took me at least triple the amount of time to do all the required reading for those lectures PLUS having exams after every “holiday”. Don’t miss it but stay strong my gal!
